Metropolitan Museum of Art Field Trip

Image
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the most iconic and renowned museums in the world. It is a treasure trove of art and artifacts from different cultures and civilizations, spanning thousands of years. My recent visit to the museum was a facilitating experience, as I got to witness some of the most beautiful and complex works of art from different parts of the world. The parts of their design that apply to things/ideas you've explored in our class is how things are gradually evolving throughout time just like the sculptures. One of the most impressive sections of the museum is the Greek and Roman art section. It is a vast collection of sculptures, pottery, and other artifacts that showcase the artistic and cultural achievements of these ancient civilizations. Two of the most noticeable artworks that caught my attention were the "Head of a Youth" and the "Marble statue of Eirene" sculpture. The "Head of a Youth" sculpture is a marble bust that dat...

3 letters + word

Image
In this artwork there are three different types of classifications which are used in the 3 letters. The letter "k" is a capitalized form of Rockwell (Slab Serif). The letter "n" is a lower case form of  Bodoni (Modern) which gives a more modernized style compared to the older style. The letter "l" is also another lower case form of Baskerville (Transitional) which I believe is related to Bodoni as both contains similar modernized style. Going to the "word" part of this project the word "Blind" consists of 5 letters which contains 1 uppercase and 4 lowercase all in the same classification known as Helvetica (Sans Serif). I wanted something nice and simple yet something random so I came up with this artwork which is something that is not too abstract and messy or all over the place and would not look appeasing. From what I could learn from this is maybe try something that would be more precise and try to get some of the letters or the w...

3 letters

Image
3 Letters In this artwork shows a 3 well more like 4 letters since I wanted to add it for design. Each of these letters represent different types of classifications. These classifications contains Bodoni (Modern), Rockwell (Slab Serif), Baskerville (Transitional). The "g" is Bodoni (Modern) which gives more of a modernized style compared to old style fonts. This was designed in the late 18th century and frequently revived since. For the "A" I decided to go with a Rockwell (Slab Serif) classification in order to to fill in majority of the spaces. This classification is close to Sans Serifs in their construction, including their generally low stroke contrast, but possessing serifs that match the overall stroke. Lastly for both uppercase (P) and lowercase (p) I designed it to be Baskerville (Transitional). John Baskerville, an English merchant most known for being a printer and type designer, created this classification. A font called Baskerville (transitional) was de...

SImilarity

Image
During these artwork I hard a time finding out what I was going to do and so I ended up researching Similarities in graphic designs. Over those times in research I was able to have a good idea on what I was going to do. In my first piece of art, I used thin hexagon shapes to create a beautiful portrait, and in my second, I used a similar idea to create nice cross shapes, allowing the concept of "Similarity" to take effect. Moving on to my second piece of art, I drew inspiration from space and combined all of the shapes I had used in this class's artwork up to that point into one large piece. So, for the first portrait, I utilized circles with negative space, and for the second, I used squares with a similar form in place of circles, and the result was a nice space design. I'm going to be honest with the way I see my work with these two designs, they were not so the best yet it fits the categories to match the requirements for this assignment. I definitely do better ...

Grid & Structure

Image
In this grid I decided to go for a changing direction and further dividing grid which I combined the two together. I worked with various repeats throughout this design to make it blend in, and I ultimately came up with all these repetitions forms where I have repeating circles, shading, and lines that kind of like form into a different kind of shade. This design demonstrates how the elements overlap in a way that makes it stand out. As I came up with several experiments to create this, I felt quite proud of myself.

Repetition by Dennis Gabriel Cargullo

Image
Repetition In this art I was inspired by many piece of artwork that represents retro games almost illustrating space shooting game in which you destroy the spaceship boss with your spaceship. Compared to what I've seen from other repition I took an idea from this one artist named Christoph Niemann who created book covers for children's book and by doing so he used Repetition to create images with the use of toothpaste and toothbrush. With his idea I decided to use triangles and square to form some sort of spaceship image to demonstrate my idea and the goal of Repetition.
